Draft — for counsel review; not legal advice and not yet approved
This text is a working draft published for review. It may change before it takes effect. Version draft-2026-09-23c.
Terms of Service
The terms that apply when you use SmartRemit-powered chat, quotes and pay pages to send money through a licensed partner.
Who provides your transfer
Your money transmitter is the licensed partner named on your receipt. SmartRemit is the technology provider: it runs the chat, the quote and the pay page for that partner, and it never holds, receives or disburses your money.
The partner is responsible for receiving your payment, delivering the funds to your recipient, and handling refunds. The pay page and your receipt name the partner, with the contact, licence and state-regulator details the partner has supplied.
Who can use the service
You must be at least 18 years old, able to enter a binding agreement, and sending money for yourself. You must give true, current and complete information about yourself and your recipient.
Quotes, exchange rates and fees
Before you pay, you are shown the amount you send, the fees, the total you pay, the exchange rate and the amount your recipient will receive. When you confirm a quote in the chat, the exchange rate is locked for up to 30 minutes. If the quote has expired by the time you pay, the pay page will not take payment and you are asked for a fresh quote.
Your recipient’s bank or wallet provider may charge its own fees, which are not included in the amount shown.
Paying for a transfer
You pay on a secure pay page for your transfer. Money moves only through that page; a chat message never moves money on its own. A pay link is personal to you: do not share it.
Identity and screening checks
Every transfer is screened against government sanctions lists, and the partner may ask you to verify your identity. A transfer may be held for review, delayed or refused where the law requires it or where the partner reasonably suspects fraud or misuse. Where the law allows, you will be told and any payment returned.
Cancellation, refunds and errors
Your rights to cancel a transfer within 30 minutes of paying, and to have errors investigated and corrected, are set out in the Remittance transfer rights section of the Legal page. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
Your responsibilities
Check the recipient’s name and payout details before you pay. You must not use the service for anything unlawful, including sending money on behalf of someone else to avoid identity checks, or splitting payments to avoid limits.
The chat assistant
The chat is run by an AI assistant. Its answers can be wrong; the pay page and your receipt are the record of what you agreed and paid. If something looks wrong, contact the licensed partner named on your receipt.
Service availability
The service may be unavailable from time to time, and delivery times are estimates. Some money movement on this site is simulated today, for demonstration.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change. The version identifier at the top of this page changes whenever the wording does, and the terms in force when you pay apply to that transfer.
Contact
For a question about a transfer, contact the licensed partner named on your receipt. For a question about the SmartRemit technology, write to support@smartremit.ai.
